Somewhat obscure and certainly rare now, the 810 was Datsun's premium car in the late'70s and the predecessor to what would become the Maxima. It's closest competitor when new would have been the Toyota Cressida. We bought it because it was something different and the few times we have had a Datsun, they have gotten a lot of attention! The 810 is powered by what is essentially a fuel injected, 6 cylinder 240Z engine which is smooth, strong and sturdy. The car itself is comfortable, easy to drive and nicely appointed for a '70's import. Our 810 has very low mileage and is in good shape for the age. The interior is especially nice with the only a few imperfections. The exterior has been repainted, It looks fine from a distance, but up close you can definitely tell. This was a running vehicle when got it, but being a low mileage 46 year old car it needed service, repairs and updating. It has been a long term project for us that we fit in as time allowed and as parts arrived. Three years later, it's finally finished, runs great, looks cool and is ready for the next owner to enjoy. The work performed on this vehicle was extensive and covered most mechanical aspects - running, cooling, fuel, suspension, brakes, tires, exhaust, electrical, climate control etc. Everything works on this car. Note that vehicles of this age cannot get a Carfax report and are exempt from both inspection and odometer reporting in NC.
