Classic third generation Toyota 4Runners are getting harder to find in good shape and with no rust. We are always looking for these vehicles, in any configuration, but obviously the rare models are more desirable. 3rd generation 4Runners have proven to be durable, capable, reliable and very long lasting. This body style has remained especially popular over the years and have held/gained value as the supply dwindles. We liked this one for three rarities - the Sport Edition package, Thunder Cloud color and the lack of rust. This is a very solid example with a rust free frame. We attribute this to the vehicle being 2WD and located in the warm climates of California and Texas for the first 18 years, then 4 years in Washington D.C. In addition to the condition underneath, we are very pleased with how it drives and the originality. The only aftermarket modification is the modern Sony Bluetooth radio. There are cosmetic imperfections both on the interior and exterior, to be expected given the age and mileage. Mechanically, this 4Runner is up to date and in very good condition. Part of the value with this one is that it doesn't need anything and shouldn't in the near future. Even when shopping for high quality vehicles like Toyota 4Runners, it's important to factor in not just the price of the vehicle, but the cost of the maintenance and repairs needed to get the vehicle ready to use. Our service in preparation for sale included an oil change, state inspection, brake fluid flush, power steering flush, ATF changed, a/c service, alignment, new battery, tires, wiper blades, air filter, lower ball joints, shifter bushings, radio antenna, evap canister. gas cap, left door lock actuators, valve cover gaskets, intake gasket, thermostat, timing belt and water pump. After an extended test drive we also replaced the differential and gear oil. In total we have driven this 4Runner 587 miles preparing it for sale. It drives terrific and is ready for a new owner. Many of the 4Runners we sell end up going to young drivers. This one would be ideal for a young driver since it isn't perfect but is solid and in proper working order. We have also found that the 2WD models go to folks who prefer the ride and fuel mileage over the 4WD version. Regardless, someone is going to get a good 4Runner!
